City of inspiration. Literature
The unique guidebook contains original texts about Lviv and short bio notes about those who
contributed and continue to contribute to the development of the city’s literary terrain.

83rd PEN International Congress
In 2017, Lviv – UNESCO City of Literature hosted more than 200 writers, editors
and guests from 69 PEN-centers from all over the world on the annual PEN
meeting.

Literary map
Literary map is another opportunity to get acquainted with famous people who wrote and
disseminated literature in Lviv. The map discovers new names and reminds the forgotten
ones of local writers and publishers who have lived in or been associated with our city.

UnderLitMove
Every year, City of Inspiration festival becomes somewhat of a "report" on the City of
Literature office team activities throughout the whole year, as well as the celebration of Lviv
acquiring the status of the UNESCO City of Literature.

Chubai. Ukraine. Love Project. POETY
A legendary Lviv poet and art expert Hryhoriy Chubai would have turned seventy
in 2019. In memory of her father, cultural and social activist Solomiia Chubai in
collaboration with partners and the team of Lviv – UNESCO City of Literature
office have been working on a new art project throughout this year. Chubai.
Ukraine. Love is a music album by Jalapita band in which the lyrics of the songs
are based on the poems by Hrytsko Chubai and other contemporary poets inspired
by him.

Annual city festival ‘The Inspiring City’
Every year, City of Inspiration festival becomes somewhat of a "report" on the City of

The series of events “The time hits everyone” for the 110 th anniversary of the birth of Stanisław Jerzy Lec
On the occasion of the 110 th anniversary of the birth of Stanisław Jerzy Lec, a prominent cultural figure of
the 20 th century, a series of popular educational events under the common title “The time hits everyone” was
organized in collaboration with Polish literary and cultural figures.

(Не)забуті імена літературного Львова. Сезон 1
(Un)forgotten Names is an audiovisual project realized in a multi-series
blog in which a well-known Lviv literary scholar, translator and
historian Andriy Pavlyshyn reveals the stories of the authors that lived
or created their work in Lviv, and whose names, for some reason, were
not widely known.

Voices of Freedom
“The voices of freedom” is a special program of “Lviv - UNESCO City of Literature” office within the 25 th
BookForum in Lviv. It involves readings by foreign authors in their native languages and general discussions
on the topic of freedom.

LEMinarium
LEMinarium is a creative project exploring the ideas of Stanislav Lem, a renowned
philosopher, futurologist and science fiction writer, and offering a separate educational
program on technology, art, cities of the future, robots, and people for teenagers.

Literary pavilion in the City of literature
Literary pavilion is the poetic musical event dealing with Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar
poetry. It was created with the aim to promote literature through combining music and
poetry of different cultures, especially the music of Dzhamil Karikov and the poetry of
Andrii Seletskyi.

Lviv - UNESCO City of Literature Award
Lviv – UNESCO City of Literature Award is an annual Ukrainian literary award
which is presented to a writer or translator for the original or translated literary
work in Ukrainian.

LitTransformer Translation Workshop
LitTransformer is a unique 10-day translation workshop.
For 10 days, participants of the workshop, translators from all over the world, had an
opportunity to translate texts from different languages using a unique method under the
direction of Aron Aji.
