In 2017, Lviv – UNESCO City of Literature hosted more than 200 writers, editors and guests from 69 PEN-centers from all over the world on the annual PEN meeting. The head topics of the 83rd International PEN Congress included the issues of truth, meanings and words, history and memory, women’s rights and equality, cyber-provocations, fake news and threats to freedom of speech in the whole world.

PEN International - is a leading non-governmental organization of writers, translators and publicists founded in London in 1921. Since 1960s, PEN-club has been protecting the freedom of speech, providing help to persecuted writers and drawing the attention of the world community to the existing problems.
